On Monday, 4 December 2006 Mr Robert Costa officially opened the St John of God Foundation’s East Geelong Home at the Geelong Conference Centre. Over 100 guests attended the opening and listened to the experiences of some of the young people now living at Horizon House.
The property in East Geelong that was made available to the Foundation by the Office of Housing underwent an extensive renovation, which was managed and directed by Hamlan Homes and generously supported by over 50 local businesses.
Many young people have benefited from the Horizon House Program with one young boy recently graduating from the Army Reserves. It is truly wonderful to see the young people who come into the program shy and unsure of themselves develop and achieve their goals.
Generous Supporters of the Horizon House Renovation include Atex Steel, Bay FM, BKM Electrics, Brian Sherwell & Associates, Bunnings, Caroma Showerline, City of Greater Geelong, Delta Carpet, Department of Human Services, DFS Cabinets, Discount Temporary Fencing, Elsworthy’s Retravision, Faggs Mitre 10, FC Walker & Sons, Freedom Furniture, Gordon Institute of Technology, Hamlan Homes, Harrington Gumienik & Partners, Hynes Tiles, Iplex Plastics, James Deans & Associates, K & M Paints, Kitchen Delight, M & B Pre Fab, Mod-cons Pty Ltd, Moolap Concrete, Newgrove, Raymor Tapware, Readymix Concrete, Saunders Consulting Group, Stegbar, Terry Atchison Architects, TGM Engineering, Tradelink, Transwest Haulage, Westcoast Roofing and Willis Australia.
